Pine box

With this pine box framed around my face,
my view is rather limited,
my senses are deprived.
It's kind of like always being on vacation
on a beach trapped in the dark.

And all of the tourists,
they are sitting down
and the tour guide,
he is a terrified mute.
The tide's not coming in,
it is just sitting still.

It's hard to write about living in a vaccuum,
describing empty space.

The host will bring you one of everything you want,
while you sit upon his couch for days on end.
While I wait for them to call my number,
I thought that I would drop you a line.
This waiting room has run out of magazines
and no one here wants to converse with me.

With this pine box framed around my face,
I can't see much of anything,
I'm running out of words.
It's like a cruise ship anchored to the bottom,
tipping back and forth and never coming back.
