Hidely hey!

So, the Darkroom was awesome last night.  Pictured above is myself (left) and Doug (not left), visibly enjoying ourselves, due to the show.  Many thanks to those who came out & much appreciation to the Grownup Noise for getting this together.  Deanna Devore put on a great acoustic set & the Ropes closed the evening with a real gritty New York electro rock set.  Also, thanks to the drunk guy who gave me vocal tips after the show as we loaded gear.  I think the show went a little something like:

1. Safeward

2. Eye Contact

3. Model Town

4. Deduction

5. Dig a Hole

6. Minerky Bill

7. Only Hungry

8. Stapling Flowers

9. Angelo

Our next show’s at Martyr’s on Wednesday,  August 19.  We’re playing with our friend Sean’s band, Save the Clocktower, who are a sometimes loungey, sometimes rocky, always sweet guitar/key/drum trio.  $7 at the door, gentleladies and charming men.

Oh yeah, and if you’d like to be on our MAILING LIST, just click on those big blue words, input your e-mail address, and then click submit.  Simple, easy, free.  Fun.

Then, by a coordinated series of digital tubes, your information will travel, “packet by packet” until we receive the recombined data on our end.  The data will be printed via computer image laser imprinting on large sheets of industry-grade papyrus, which will be hung from the walls to dry and “settle.” After weeks of binary translation, we will be able to transcode your address into our system, and begin to send you updates about shows, or other notable things you might enjoy.

See you soon!

New City Shows Us Some Love

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Mr. Todd Miller of New City was kind enough to give me and PJ a call Monday night to interview us for New City. Check out the supple and delicious fruits of his labor right here.

Also: We’re playing the Beat Kitchen tomorrow! With Ganges and David Darrens! Check out our Shows Page above for more info. Like I imagine lemurs say whenever they do that wacky sideways leap-run: YIPPEEEEEEEEEE!

It Begins

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Hey folks.  So we just started recording a new album.  From the looks of things, it seems like the record itself and the process of making it are going to be long, long, long.  Basically, between our three songwriters, we’ve written and arranged thirty, maybe forty (fifty?!) songs in the last year.  If we don’t record these bastards once and for all, I think we’ll all go crazy.  So begins the long process of the second Percolator record.

If you’re anything like me, you fucking hate waiting.  So I’ll help you out a little.  While we’re recording this massive batch of songs, I’ll be posting up little sonic nuggets for you every so often.  Think of them as little snacks to keep you from starving while you wait for the big meal.  My first selection is an excerpt from a jam we recorded in our practice space maybe a year or so ago.  It is the first and only time we’ve ever played this.  I believe PJ and I are on guitars, Matt on bass, and Ben on drums.  Stay tuned, folks. There’s more to come.

There’s a certain… “I don’t know what”

Percolator’s happy to announce that we’re playing 2 shows very soon…at the Darkroom on the 16th, and the Subterranean on the 18th.  Check our shows page, or our myspace page for more info.

It seems we’ve neglected to post a new Song of the Month!  Ack!  Well, now’s the perfect time to catch up on the past 4 months of Singles of the Month (over on the right there…with the player & links & whatnot).  All are available for download (in .zip files…don’t let that scare you) for a limited time…so be quick and snatch up that gravy.

In other news, the band is starting to write and illustrate a comic strip to be featured on this page at a later date.  The basic jist being that a wildly successful (and overly verbosely philosophical) french chef tires of the snobbery of his gourmet culture, resigns his post, moves to America & tries to get a job cooking at Bennigans.  He can’t manage to shut up long enough to hear anybody else talking, doesn’t notice inclement situations spring up around him…hilarity ensues.  Trust me, we’ve got a number of these babies already plotted.

I mention this all because, #1. please keep this in mind and check back later for future strips, but #2. if you’ve ever had a kooky idea for a comic strip…well, we’re still in “ideation” mode, so if there’s something you’d like to see happen in the comic strip, a gag you’re dying to see, or an inside joke you’d like us to embed somewhere, the doors are open & we just might use your ideas!  If you’ve got’em, post’em in our comments section, or mail to percolator.music@gmail.com

Oh, and come out to see us next week.  Seriously!

Allo, allo.

Hey, everybody.  This will be our direct megaphone to your ears, so keep checking in so we can fill your head with nonsense.  That and show dates, news, pictures, etc…we’ll be able to share recordings with you here that might not be anywhere else, so please check back in & see what’s up.
